Winter Wonderland Wedding at Timberline Lodge

Yes, the groundhog saw his shadow but for some reason the Pacific Northwest missed the memo and has decided to bestow ungodly amounts of rain and never-ending clouds. The bright side (hehe)? Tons of snow in the mountains that made for a magnificent wedding shoot back drop!

The bridal pieces used in the shoot were created with raw citrine stones and sterling silver chains, all handmade by Sahlia. The photos have been featured on the national wedding blog,

I can almost guarantee everyone has their favorite necklace that they wish could go with absolutely anything (I do at least) .... only problem is it's either too long or too short. I've recently fell in love with my double length torched track necklace by Sahlia Jewelery.

It's the perfect accessory to add a little edgy glam to anything from that new cami/cardigan set to that mini dress you've had since college. Its unique colors and textures create a dramatic contrast from the everyday accessory. Plus it's like having two necklaces for the price of one (in case you needed some purchase justification)

The Art Walk this weekend is being hosted at the Ford Building in SE Portland (our building!). The show will be from 10-5 and our studio will be open from 1-3 (ish). NEW GOLD PIECES

After countless times of being asked "when are you going to add some gold pieces to your collection?" I finally have an answer - now! I started with a few timeless pieces and gave them sterling silver ear hooks and tiny barbells. More to come soon...

We always use 14k gold filled wire, never gold plated! The difference is in the life of the finished piece.
Gold-filled: also called rolled-gold. These jewelry items start with a base metal (like steel) and then are covered by sheets of gold in a mechanical bonding process. Effectively a thick coat of gold: the gold content is 5% or 1/20 of the total weight. Use gold-filled items for your top-of-the-line jewelry. Usually made with 14k gold, it is hard wearing. With reasonable care it will not peel or flake, and should last as long as solid 14k gold jewelry. It is safe for most people with sensitive skin
Gold-plated: A base metal such as steel or brass is dipped into a bath of electroplating solution, with a lump of solid gold. When an electric current is applied, a thin layer of gold is deposited on the metal. Since the plating is quite thin, the plate (and hence the colour) on findings can wear off.

UNCOMMON JEWELS: A Holiday Shopping Happy Hour

A collaborative holiday event is in the works that will combine the talents of seven jewelry designers who live and design in the Pacific Northwest. It will take place December 17th, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., in an as-of-yet undisclosed location in Portland, Oregon.

Limited edition work and collections from jewelry artists Alisha Louise, Amy Bengston, Betsy & Iya, grayling, Lauren Harkness, Sahlia Jewelry, and stone + honey will be showcased.

The evening will include complimentary artistic gift wrap and a hosted wine bar.

Entirely one-of-a-kind, our newest sterling silver thumbprint pendants serve as a stylish yet meaningful gift. And yes, it's actually YOUR own thumbprint!

The process is super easy! Here's how it works: we take your print on a wax disc, make a one-of-a-kind casting in sterling silver, you choose your chain length and it's done!

If you live here in Portland we can take your print right here at our studio and if not, we can easily send you the wax disc. Then all you have to do is make your print and send it back to us. We'll have the necklace finished and shipped back to you by Mother's Day if ordered by May 6th!

New Pieces at Phlox Boutique!

Here's a peek at a few pieces we just dropped off at Phlox clothing boutique on North Mississippi. It's got lots of feminine pieces that focus on great design and a flattering fit. Barb Seipp (owner/ designer) carries a variety of local, national and international lines, including her own label; Isaac Hers. Lots of our new hand-pounded and chain pieces are the perfect compliment to her new artistically edgy Isaac Hers Spring 2010 collection!

The"5 Blades" necklace (shown in center of pic), which is comprised of 5 hand-pounded sterling silver bars suspended between both a gunmetal and a silver chain, is one of the favorites at Phlox!

There are tons of other great little shops on Mississippi St., perfect for a relaxing day of shopping at some of Portland's unique local businesses. And for that mid-day pick my up, stop in and get your caffeine fix at the Fresh Pot!

When thinking of accessorizing an outfit, you may search out scarves, tights, jewelry, or...scrunchies? Who knows. Glasses, however, are one of my favorite additions to any ensemble: Pradas for my geek chic, D&Gs for my business attire and Amy Sacks for my weekend warrior.

But with Spring upon us you may be in search of some frames with a little sun protection. Lucky for you, we've found the perfect pair for the eco-friendly, yet style-conscious, eye wear enthusiast.

Shwoods glasses are made using sustainable harvested wood such as Maple, Zebrawood and East Indian Rosewood. The glasses feature polarized lenses with 100% UVA/UVB protection. Or, for those with less then perfect vision, you can opt for Carl Zeiss lenses.

Come in. Hang out. Have some coffee. Buy stuff. Browse stuff. Or not. Lizard Lounge is one of my favorite Portland shops! With clothing and accessories for men and women, LL meshes threads, music, and art with a unique and playful twist. Located in Portland’s Pearl District, LL is known for its chill shopping atmosphere, urban clothing, and First Thursday bashes featuring local musicians and artists.

This place has such a great, eclectic feel. From the salvaged antique furniture to the exposed concrete, the space exudes all that’s real and raw while still being put together. You'll find some of my handmade silver gypsy hoops, pounded bangles, and hammered horseshoe earrings among other pieces in an antique case near the front. The funky display case features Nixon watches and RayBan sunglasses (a personal favorite for shades) as well.

Definitely worth checking out. Also, mark your calendars! First Thursdays start next month (I just secured a spot for Sahlia Michelle from April til November!). Conveniently, Lizard Lounge is located right in the midst of all the First Thursday traffic, so now you REALLY don’t have an excuse.

New Leather Strip Earrings!

As we all have to have noticed, leather has worked its way back into a fashion staple. Motorcycle jackets were rampant last season, and I’d dare say the trend marches onward. I’m actually pining for a gorgeous gray/blue masterpiece-of-a-jacket currently on sale at Parallel in the Pearl. There’s just something undeniably edgy yet, when done right, classic about leather. On that note, check out what’s new at Sahlia Michelle!

These babies feature thin strips of authentic leather dangling intermittently with silver chain from simple, sterling-silver hoops. Each pair is handcrafted individually using local sustainable materials (the reclaimed leather comes from Oregon Leather Supply!).

Last First Thursday of the Fall...

Sadly the end of the Summer is approaching and that means that this week will be the last First Thursday of the season. As per usual, we will have our booth outside of Bay 13 and we would love for all of you to come by and see the new collection! We will be offering a $10 off promo on all of the jewels and will be there from 5-10pm. Come by and see all the art, music and vendors and celebrate the final First Thursday of the year!

So we are really excited about our event with Minx and Thirst coming up in 2 weekends... If you hadn't heard of Minx yet, now you have! On the 12th of September we will be a featured vendor at a the Minx Champagne Brunch. You only need to come to one event and you are signed up to be an official member of Minx, so you will be invited to all of the exclusive events that they have. The next event will be at Thirst and we will be featuring the entire new collection with a special event discount... there will be free mimosas, a delicious brunch provided by Thirst and some other local vendors for shopping too!

Its an fun, unique experience where you can shop, eat, sip wine and socialize! All the events are held at Thirst, and as a Founding Merchant of the organization we hope that you can come and see the new line, and become a Minx Member!

Bargain Hunting 101...loved it!

We hope you came out to Bargain Hunting 101 this last Sunday at the Crystal Ballroom. It was our first time at this "Mother of all Clearance Sales" and we had a great time! The event lasted all day, from 12 to 5 and featured tons of emerging PDX designers and vendors. It is the perfect opportunity to get a taste of a large number of Portland's upcoming brands, all within one unique shopping trip...with an open bar!

This BH101 we shared a booth with Radish Underground (thanks Gina!) but next time we hope to have our own so we can bring even more of the jewels from the collection for all you savvy bargain shoppers!

From the new collection... Stackable Rings and Cuffs

These funky stackable rings (top) are available with an oxidized sterling silver finish or a brushed sterling silver finish, allowing you to mix up your look from day to day.

Rings are priced at $42 each or a stack of three for $100.

These C- cuffs (bottom) are also available with the oxidized sterling silver finish or the brushed sterling silver finish. You can wear a single cuff for a simple, sophisticated look, or throw on a few more for something a little more edgy. These C-cuffs are $48 each.

These two designs are available exclusively at Lizard Lounge and our studio.

Some more new additions to the collection are these gorgeous torched pieces. Incorporating antler slices, TQ spikes and torched metal, this line is both edgy and unique. We will be showing these pieces, as well as the rest of the line at First Thursday in the Pearl. The booth will be located right outside of Bay 13. Also, come by Radish Underground, another great spot to check out the collection as well as some other local artists!
